Portage Park

Welcome to Portage Park. Portage Park is a four-square-mile Northwest Chicago neighborhood centered around the park that bears the same name. The expansive park is a green space made for gathering, with many walking trails, fields, a playground, a dog park, and a lap pool.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Lots of green open spaces and parks, theaters for film and live music and a globally inspired food and drink scene is found here, especially along Irving Park Road.

THE LIFESTYLE
While shopping and services are likely to be found at the Six Corners intersection, there are other stores and shops around the neighborhood. The crossing was built a century ago around The Portage Theater, the neighborhood’s cultural heart that today hosts screenings—from classic to indie to international films—as well as live music.

THE MARKET
Portage Park is a primarily residential area filled with single-family homes, including along the Portage Park Bungalow Historic District, and some condominiums.
